If you want a REALLY good blender, I'd get a vitamix! To stay a bit more affordable, but still powerful, I like the kitchenaid blenders. Enjoy!

Hi Marv! I sometimes use protein, but don't have one I stick with. I guess my favorite thing to add is hemp hearts, which have a lot of protein — you can also get straight hemp protein, which has less texture than hemp hearts. That said, the protein in the almonds already kicks this one up a notch! Enjoy! I made a recipe today with the Wild Orange — it is AMAZING, so big thanks on that!

Hi Barbara! There are two reasons I did not use the water: first, I did the quick soak in boiling water, and didn't want to add still-warm water to my smoothie. Second, the soaking water grosses some people out! If you use cold, and don't mind using it, there is no reason to throw it out!

I am going to try it for my teenage boys. Do you recommend mixing protein with your smoothies? Do you have a preferred protein type?

I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing that!! It's just one of those frustrating/laughable things about food blogging, I guess!

The internet is a funny place...

Gorgeous smoothie! I really like those pictures, the beautiful color of the blueberries really makes them pop!
