In reply to Laura. Oh I have a pasta maker (I can't imagine doing it without!!), it's just super old, and with a hand crank instead of a motor. Definitely easier with three hands! Derek doesn't like beets at all, and he was fine with the pasta. He said he could just barely taste the beets, and I think that may have been half mental... They certainly make a fun color! I'll have to check out that cupcake recipe!

Yikes, making pasta without a pasta maker? Sounds intimidating. But I love the color the beets add. This month's Sunset magazine had a recipe for red velvet cupcakes, but colored with beets. I don't normally like beets (don't hate) but I want to try and use their color in recipes.
